The British Travel Awards archive of companies that have received consumer recognition for their achievements from 2008 to 2010.
As part of the ongoing development of the awards programme - following appraisal and feedback from members of the BTA Consumer Council and the BTA Academy - some categories have been redefined or removed during this period.
Where there are blank entries the category was withdrawn from that year's awards programme, or in the case of criteria based awards (of the year and environmental), the submissions presented by competing companies did not meet the exacting standards set by the BTA Academy.
1. The number of categories in the Package Holiday Company (Tour Operator) by Destination section was increased to define more comprehensively holiday regions around the world.
2. So specialist tour operators to specific destinations would be better represented in the above categories "Region Awards" were introduced. This transferred the major tour operators to these award categories.
3. The number of categories for UK holiday providers and attractions were increased to reflect growth in the domestic holiday market.
4. A new category group - Consumer Information Channels - was introduced to recognise the work of various communication organisations for providing information on holiday and travel products.
5. Bronze awards were introduced to many categories so consumers have an increased spread of companies to consider when making their travel or holiday provider choices. Please note: Companies listed in the bronze column prior to 2010 are for reference only. The companies achieved this position based upon the number of votes cast; however there is no official BTA recognition of a bronze award before the 2010 awards programme.
