THE BRITISH TRAVEL AWARDS LAUNCHES BTATV
Senior industry professionals celebrated the official launch of this year’s British Travel Awards in association with Lloyds TSB, at an exclusive champagne and canapés soiree at Daphne’s Restaurant in Chelsea, London and found out all about the latest British Travel Awards innovation – BTA-TV.
The British Travel Awards CEO Lorraine Barnes Burton was thrilled with the success of the evening: “It was a fabulous evening and we were delighted to share the new innovations for this year’s British Travel Awards to some of the most influential people within our industry. BTA-TV is a new departure for us and is available to anyone who wants to promote their product to the consumers who will be visiting The British Travel Awards website during the voting period July – September this year. In addition to the “click and vote” buttons which nominees can display on their websites to encourage customer votes, BTA-TV gives the nominees and sponsors of this year’s awards the chance to let voters see exactly who and what they are voting for when they register to share their opinions on our website. There are many companies who have not, until now, had the chance to share their product with consumers outside of their own customer base. BTA-TV is a very cost-effective way of giving any travel company access to a potential audience of upwards of 9 million consumers. BTA-TV will effectively allow contributors to place a TV ad, produced by us, on the British Travel Awards website and showcase their product to seriously travel-interested consumers.”
A comprehensive communications schedule to the audiences of 12 media partners throughout the summer will ensure that The British Travel Awards website, and the sponsors and nominees featured within it, are marketed to more than 9 million consumers. Media partners include The Sunday Times, The Sun, News of the World, Sky Travel, Heart FM, Classic FM, LBC 97.3FM, TripAdvisor, Consumer Data, the customers of Lloyds TSB Cardnet, Rough Guides and Dorling Kindersley Publishing and also industry professionals via communications from Advantage, ITT, Global Travel Group and of course TravelMole.

BRITISH TRAVEL AWARDS 2009 - OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED!
The major sponsors for this year’s British Travel Awards are confirmed and include some of the biggest names in travel, whilst the consumer media partners signed up will put the sponsors and nominees of this year’s awards in front of an audience of more than 9 million. The British Travel Awards 2009, in association with Lloyds TSB Cardnet will be held on 5th November at Battersea Evolution in London.
Set to break all records for the number of votes achieved for any awards ceremony, the British Travel Awards has a targeted schedule of communications via bus posters, national newspaper and magazine ads and editorial, TV and Radio broadcasts, internet promo videos, e-newsletters to subscribers and direct e-shots to previous voters. The integrated consumer awareness and vote-incentive campaign planned for the summer is worth upwards of £900k via scheduled activity with The Sunday Times, The Sun, News of the World, Sky Travel, CBS Outdoor, Heart FM, Classic FM and LBC 97.3FM as well as direct communications to consumers via TripAdvisor, Consumer Data and Lloyds TSB customers.
Once again, the headline sponsor for the BTAs is Lloyds TSB Cardnet and this year the votes and Academy Judges’ deliberations on submissions received from “of the year” awards category entrants will be overseen and audited by Deloitte LLP.
The British Travel Awards certainly appear to be storming ahead this year under the management of CEO Lorraine Barnes Burton and her team. She commented: “This year we have a more diverse range of media partners reaching an enormous consumer and trade audience, and more travel partners and sponsors supporting the awards than ever before. Being a brand of excellence in travel that consumers instantly recognise, our sponsors, nominees and eventual winners can make the most of the official BTA status logos to ensure their customers know they are amongst the best in the business. With so many votes expected this year, we have enlisted the support of Deloitte LLP to audit the results and this, coupled with the results of our consumer attitudinal survey will enable us to confidently state once again that we are the UK’s largest arbiter for public opinion on travel – which decent travel company would not want to be involved in that!”.
Travel companies sponsoring and partnering this year’s British Travel Awards include: DoSomethingDifferent.com and Attraction Tickets Direct; Training For Travel; AITO; Viking River Cruises; Thomas Cook; ResortHoppa; P&O Ferries; TUI Travel; Avis; Hurtigruten; Voyages of Discovery; Online Travel Training and New Frontiers; LowCostTravelGroup; The ITT, Advantage Travel Centres; Global Travel Group; GTA by Travelport, World Travel Market and The Travel Trust Association. Official travel industry media partner is, once again, TravelMole.
Until Monday 15 June, you can nominate across the BTA awards categories and decide who you think deserves to go forward to the open voting stage which begins on 1st July. Companies wishing to enter the “of the year” categories can download the entry criteria from the website. Tables and seat reservations can also be made online and you can choose your table position from the interactive seating chart. www.britishtravelawards.com >> Back to top
